National Law University, Delhi has confirmed that AILET 2027 โ€” the All India Law Entrance Test for its five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. programmes โ€” will be held on Sunday, 13 December 2026, from 2 PM to 4 PM, with the Admission Notice and online application forms opening on the university's website from 7 August 2026.

What's actually confirmed

Per NLU Delhi's official notification dated 23 July 2026, the university will conduct AILET 2027 "at all India level" on 13 December 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The same notification states that the Admission Notice and Online Application Forms will be available on nationallawuniversitydelhi.in starting 7 August 2026 โ€” the day after this update. As of this writing, the university's AILET admissions page still displays "AILET 2026" branding and is expected to switch over once the new cycle's forms go live. NLU Delhi does not accept CLAT scores for its own programmes; AILET is a fully separate exam with its own application, fee and result process, run only by NLU Delhi itself.

NLU Delhi's notification does not itself spell out the application fee or eligibility percentages โ€” those appear in the full Admission Notice once published. Based on AILET's pattern in recent cycles, law-entrance portals tracking the notification report an application fee of roughly Rs 3,000 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and Rs 1,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, and eligibility of 45% in Class 12 for General candidates (42% OBC, 40% SC/ST/PwD), with no upper age limit. Treat these as reported figures until NLU Delhi's own Admission Notice confirms them on 7 August.

What this means for aspirants

If NLU Delhi is on your shortlist, 7 August is the date to actually watch, not the 23 July notification, since that's when the application form itself becomes fillable. AILET runs independently of CLAT: its own Class 12 percentage cut-offs, its own roughly 150-question paper covering English, Current Affairs & GK and Legal Aptitude/Reasoning, and its own separate registration fee โ€” clearing CLAT gives you no automatic path into NLU Delhi, and vice versa. With the exam on 13 December, a week after CLAT 2027 on 6 December, most aspirants targeting NLU Delhi are also sitting CLAT the same admission season, so it's worth building a study schedule that covers both papers' overlapping but not identical syllabi rather than treating them as one combined prep.
