The Union Public Service Commission has shortlisted 13,343 candidates for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026, which is scheduled to run from 21 to 30 August 2026, and the Mains e-admit card is expected on the Commission's e-Admit Card portal in the coming days.

The Commission's website subsequently opened a Detailed Application Form (DAF-II) window from 19 to 28 June 2026 for these shortlisted candidates to submit further personal, academic and service-preference details. The Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026 currently appears at the top of UPSC's "Active Examinations" list on upsc.gov.in/examinations/active-exams, and is scheduled to be conducted over five days between 21 and 30 August 2026. This year's cycle traces back to the original CSE 2026 notification issued on 29 January 2026, with the Preliminary Examination held on 24 May 2026.
UPSC has not yet published the Mains e-admit card as of this update. Based on the Commission's usual practice of releasing Mains hall tickets roughly one to two weeks before the exam date, candidate-tracking portals expect it to go live on the official e-Admit Card portal at upsconline.gov.in/eadmitcard during the first half of August; this is an estimate based on past cycles, not a date UPSC itself has announced.
What this means for shortlisted candidates
If you're among the 13,343 shortlisted, the immediate action items are straightforward: keep checking upsc.gov.in and upsconline.gov.in daily from now through mid-August for the e-admit card link, and have your registration ID/roll number and date of birth ready to retrieve it the moment it's live. UPSC admit cards typically cannot be reissued for a changed exam centre once released, so double-check the centre and shift details as soon as you download it, and report any discrepancy to the Commission immediately rather than close to the exam date. With roughly two weeks left before the 21 August start, this is also the window to shift from broad syllabus coverage to focused answer-writing practice and full-length Mains mock tests, since Mains marks (1,750) and the subsequent Interview (275) โ not the qualifying-only Prelims โ decide the final merit list.
