What NTA has announced
NTA's public notice dated 24 October 2026 invites applications for JEE (Main) 2027 Session 1 and gives 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027 as the exam dates (NTA invitation notice). That is different from the proposed 22 to 30 January window in NTA's September examination calendar, so students who noted the earlier dates should update their plans.
The same notice sets the fee payment deadline at 22 November 2026, 11:50 pm, followed by a late-submission window from 23 to 26 November with a late fee of Rs 500. The notice does not give a Session 2 schedule; it says a separate notification will be issued for Session 2 applications.
Fresh application form allowed
In a public notice dated 30 October 2026, NTA said candidates who already hold an application number, even with the fee paid, may submit a fresh Session 1 form (NTA clarification notice). Only the last form for which the fee is paid and the confirmation page is generated will count. If a fresh form is started but not paid and confirmed, the earlier completed form stays valid.
A fresh form gets a new application number and every detail, photograph, signature and document has to be entered and uploaded again. Fees paid on the earlier form are not refunded or adjusted. Appearing, or trying to appear, under more than one application number is treated as unfair means, although simply holding extra numbers without using them is not.
What this means for students
If your first form was filled in a hurry and has a wrong category, subject choice or document, a fresh form is possible, but the notice says candidates who only need to change certain details should use the correction facility from 27 to 29 November instead. Do not wait for the last week: the portal is busiest near the deadline. For help, NTA lists its helpdesk at 011-40759000 and 011-69227700, and jeemain@nta.ac.in.
