NEET UG 2026: Round 2 AIQ Counselling Registration Opens 3 September

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the official Round 2 counselling schedule for NEET UG 2026 admissions under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and 100% Deemed/Central University seats — registration opens 3 September 2026 and runs through 8 September, with the seat allotment result due 11 September.

What changed

MCC published the Round 2 AIQ schedule on 27 August 2026, covering admission to MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats under the 15% All India Quota as well as 100% seats in Deemed/Central Universities, ESIC colleges, AFMC Pune, AIIMS and JIPMER (Puducherry and Karaikal). Participating institutes verify their tentative seat matrix on 1 and 2 September, after which registration and payment open for candidates from 3 September to 8 September 2026 (payment accepted up to 6 PM on the 8th). Choice filling runs from 3 September up to 10 AM on 9 September, and choice locking is a shorter window — from 4 PM on 8 September to 10 AM on 9 September.

Separately, MCC opened a resignation window on 31 August for Round 1 "freeze" candidates who joined a seat but now want to withdraw — this closes 1 PM on 2 September 2026, and candidates must report in person at their allotted institute; resigning inside this window does not cost the security deposit.

What it means for candidates

Round 2 seat processing runs 9-10 September, with results declared 11 September 2026 and reporting/joining at allotted colleges scheduled 12-18 September. Candidates who registered for Round 1 but weren't allotted a seat, and those who want to try for a better seat via fresh choices, need to register again for Round 2 — MCC does not automatically carry forward Round 1 choices. It's also worth checking the seat matrix verified on 1-2 September before choice-filling, since it will reflect any seats vacated through the Round 1 resignation window rather than Round 1's original seat list.
