The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) published the tentative Round 1 seat matrix for NEET UG 2026's 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and 100% Deemed/Central Universities, AIIMS and JIPMER seats for MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing on 7 August, per the "Seat Matrix NEET UG MBBS BDS & BSc Nursing Round 1" listing on the official MCC portal, mcc.nic.in.
What's actually confirmed
MCC's Current Events page confirms participating institutes published their tentative Round 1 seat matrix on 7 August, alongside the previously released UG AIQ Counselling Schedule dated 1 August. That schedule shows Round 1 registration and fee payment running from 5 to 12 August (registration closes 3 PM, payment stays open until 6 PM, both server time, on 12 August), choice filling running 6 to 13 August, and choice locking opening at 4 PM on 12 August and closing at 11 AM on 13 August. The Round 1 seat allotment result is processed from 13 to 16 August and is due for declaration on 17 August, with reporting and joining at allotted institutes running 18 to 22 August, and institutes verifying joined-candidate data on 23 August. Round 2 follows close behind: registration opens 25 August and closes 29 August, with its own result declared 2 September.
What this means for students
The seat matrix release matters because it's the first concrete list of which MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing seats are actually on offer this round โ check it before finalising your choice list, since choice filling and locking run in parallel with the matrix's publication rather than after it. If you've already registered and paid, choice locking is the next fixed deadline: it opens 4 PM on 12 August and shuts 11 AM on 13 August, and a locked choice list cannot be edited afterward. Miss the Round 1 registration window entirely and Round 2 registration opens just under two weeks later, on 25 August, so a missed Round 1 doesn't end your AIQ counselling chances this cycle. As with the 3 August update on this site, state quota counselling continues to run on each state's own separate schedule โ AIQ dates apply only to the 15% All India Quota and central-institution seats.
