With the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026 due to begin in ten days, the e-Admit Card for Mains had not yet appeared on UPSC's official exam page as of 11 August, per a direct check of the Commission's "Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026" listing on upsc.gov.in.

What's actually confirmed

UPSC's official CSM 2026 exam page currently carries exactly two documents: the "Important Notice" (WindowCAF-CSM-26-Engl-190626.pdf), uploaded 19 June 2026, and the "Examination Time Table" (TT-CSM-2026-Engl-100726.pdf), uploaded 10 July 2026. No separate e-admit card notice or download link has been added to that page as of this check. The confirmed time table has Mains running across five days — 21, 22, 23, 29 and 30 August 2026 — opening with the Essay and General Studies Papers I-IV over the first three days, the qualifying Indian Language (Paper A) and English (Paper B) papers on 29 August after a weekend break, and the two Optional Subject papers on 30 August. Several candidate-tracking portals had estimated the e-admit card would go live sometime between 8 and 14 August, based on the Commission's usual practice of releasing Mains hall tickets one to two weeks ahead of the exam — that window is still running, but UPSC itself has not announced a specific release date.

What this means for shortlisted candidates

If you're among the 13,343 candidates shortlisted from the Preliminary Examination result declared 18 June, there's no cause for alarm yet — admit cards for a five-day Mains exam starting 21 August comfortably fit within the Commission's typical one-to-two-week release pattern even if they land closer to 14 August than 8 August. The practical move is to check the official e-Admit Card portal at upsconline.gov.in/eadmitcard daily from now on, rather than relying on a single expected date from a coaching portal, and to keep your registration ID/roll number and date of birth ready so you can retrieve it the moment it's live. Once issued, UPSC admit cards typically cannot be reissued for a changed exam centre, so verify your centre, date and shift details immediately on download and report any discrepancy to the Commission well before 21 August rather than close to exam day. With roughly a week and a half left, this is also a reasonable point to shift from broad syllabus revision to focused answer-writing practice and full-length Mains mocks, since the 1,750 Mains marks plus the 275 Interview marks — not the qualifying-only Prelims — decide the final merit list.
