Legitimate ways to pay less
- 1.Ask for a written, tax-inclusive final amount before paying, then record every included class, test and optional-subject component.
- 2.Buy the preparation component you need. A separate Prelims or Mains test series may cost less than a broader package when you do not need full foundation teaching.
- 3.Check eligibility for the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment's Free Coaching scheme for economically disadvantaged SCs, OBCs and beneficiaries of the PM CARES Children Scheme before paying for a course.
- 4.Compare course duration, tax and exit terms in one place before accepting a discounted batch price.
A headline fee is not enough to compare courses
The published examples below are not a national average. They are dated provider prices for different formats, durations and inclusions. A test series, a one-year General Studies course and a three-year foundation course solve different preparation needs.
The Ministry of Education's 2026 parliamentary reply says coaching-centre websites should carry course duration, fees, easy-exit policy and fee-refund policy. The same reply notes that state and Union Territory rules differ, so ask for the provider's written terms instead of assuming one national refund rule.

Check four details in writing before comparing one quote with another. The checklist follows the information the Ministry says coaching centres should publish, and it prevents a low headline price from being compared with a broader package.

A ₹21,999 combined Prelims-and-Mains test series is not directly comparable with a ₹1,77,000 one-year classroom foundation course. Start with the exam stage you need, then use the fee comparison calculator to record tax, included tests, optional-subject teaching and written exit terms.
