Quick answer
Gemini Notebook (called NotebookLM until July 2026) is a free Google study tool that answers questions only from the material you upload — NCERT chapters, class notes, PDFs or YouTube lectures — and shows exactly where each answer came from. It can turn that material into flashcards, quizzes, mind maps, study guides and podcast-style audio lessons in Indian languages, which makes it one of the best free revision tools for Indian students.

What is Gemini Notebook?
Gemini Notebook is Google's AI research and study notebook. You create a notebook for a subject, add your sources — PDFs, Google Docs, website links, YouTube videos or pasted text — and then ask questions. Unlike a normal chatbot, it answers from your sources and adds citations so you can check the exact line in your book.
The tool was called NotebookLM until Google renamed it on 16 July 2026. Features, limits and the free plan stayed the same, and old notebook links still work.
How Gemini Notebook helps students
Answers you can trust and verify
Because every answer is taken from the chapters you upload and comes with citations, it is far less likely to make things up than a general chatbot — ideal for NCERT-based exams like NEET and CBSE boards.
Revision material in minutes
One click creates flashcards, quizzes, a study guide, a mind map or a timeline from a chapter. That saves hours of making notes by hand before exams.
Learn while travelling
Audio Overviews turn a chapter into a podcast-style discussion you can listen to on the bus or metro. Video Overviews make a short narrated slide video.
Works in Indian languages
Audio Overviews are available in 50+ languages and Video Overviews in 80, so Hindi-medium and regional-language students can revise in the language they think in.
Great for heavy reading exams
UPSC, CLAT and CA students can upload long reports, Economic Survey chapters or bare acts and ask focused questions, with citations back to the page.
Free for everyday use
The free plan is generous enough for daily study. You only need a Google account.
